Cheap Hotel Rooms

Cheap does not have to mean nasty when it comes to cheap hotel rooms. Not if you frequent the right hotels. Hotel rates, like many other things, start to get extremely expensive once one starts to move up in the ranks of luxury accommodation; yet, you get proportionally less for the money you had spent. There is a “sweet spot” much lower down the scale that affords you all the comfort and expected amenities at an eminently reasonable price.

A lot of the money that luxury hotels charge pays for very luxurious finishes like the most expensive carpets, wallpaper and bathroom fittings. These things, while they are pleasant enough in themselves, do not add actual value to your hotel experience. What you need is more money to spend on your whereabouts and sightseeing trips and less money spent on expensive hotel accommodation.

You would be surprised to learn that some hotels that class themselves as budget accommodation may offer amenities such as an en suite bathroom with shower, air conditioning, a refrigerator, a safe, DSTV, room service, non-smoking room availability, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities and excellent security. Rooms are tastefully decorated and you may often choose from rooms with a double and single bed, rooms with two single beds or rooms with one double bed only. You only spend a relatively small percentage of your time in your hotel room anyway, so there is every reason to save on accommodation and expand you sightseeing budget.

These hotels fall in that proverbial “sweet spot” of premier budget accommodation and may often be rated three-star hotels. They may be cheap, but they certainly are not nasty. When you next look for cheap hotel rooms, consider this section of the market and be pleasantly surprised at the agreeable comfort-per-cent ratio that can be achieved.
