Dining Hotel

If you are staying at a reasonably good three-star hotel, you need not even leave the premises for a decent dining experience. In fact, you may be pleasantly surprised at the standard of the hotel’s in-house dining room or restaurant.

There is often a large buffet breakfast where you could select a Continental, fruit or cereal option, of even something more sophisticated. Many hotels have proper restaurants where you could have a buffet dinner or order from an a la carte menu in a tasteful setting. Most of the budget hotels’ restaurants and pubs only cater for guests staying in the hotel, although they might often do outside catering too.

The expensive five-star hotels’ restaurants are often well-known and may serve excellent international cuisine and superb wines. Their chefs are frequently award-winning masters and people dine at these establishments on the back of their reputations, even if they do not actually stay at the hotel. Some of these luxury hotels’ restaurants are highly esteemed and attract visitors from across the country. The restaurant may be the official dining place for the hotel’s guests, but it is also run as a business in its own right, marketed separately and it may even have its own website.

The dining experience at these restaurants is decidedly upmarket and expensive, but there is certainly no shortage of choice. A variety of breakfasts are served for extended hours, and these may include the normal cereals, fruit, yogurts and Continental options, as well as more discerning choices such as a cheese selection, cold meats and a choice of several warm dishes.

A hotel often offers TV screens in its restaurant where people can follow news and sports while they are dining. At the time of big sports events, these may become popular gathering places. There are often separate smoking areas as well.
